Spreading Smiles on Mass Ave

After a long, cold winter, the warm days and new growth of spring are in full force. This week, Berk, Brooke, Davy, Jeff, and Ronnie were joined on Mass Ave by our newest volunteer, Lynda! We met Lynda the day before at Wake Up the Earth in Jamaica Plain. We are so grateful that she brought her warmth and infectious smile to people on the streets!

The volunteers served over 100 people on Sunday, starting to distribute warm weather clothes like t shirts, shorts, along with the usual underwear and socks. Many people were decked out in Celtics gear, supporting another playoff run. As usual, the fresh fruit and candy were very popular, but the favorite item was the frosted banana cake. It was gone within 20 minutes!

We saw a mixture of faces on the Ave today - some we have seen before, some who were new. By spreading kindness, starting conversations, and building relationships, we aim to show everyone we meet that they are worthy of love, happiness, and recovery.
