With horror and sadness, I read the recent post about Universal Church denying love and mercy to the  Boston Recovery Foundation and friends on the street.

I had assumed that the Universal Church was purposefully located where it was, as a beacon of hope and a manifestation of Jesus's love to the people who many would argue need it most -- although we are all in equal need.

I was wrong.

My church teaching tells me to attempt to reconcile with my brother. Jesus says if your brother sins against you,  attempt to reason with him, and if he doesn't listen, tell the church. As a fellow believer,  I would welcome a chance to talk to this pastor about the hurt his actions caused.

My understanding of Jesus's love is that it extends to anybody and everybody. We also can't deny that in the Gospels, Jesus shows particular attention and tenderness toward the outcast, the impoverished, the suffering and the marginalized.

Jesus said that when you feed the hungry, you are feeding Him. I'm almost certain the same applies if the hungry leave trash and don't pay taxes.

Boston Recovery Foundation, keep doing what you're doing. Keep being the hands and feet of Jesus.
