The weather didn’t cooperate with us on Sunday, but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. We braved the rain to serve the people who rely on us. We had a variety of food options, including roast beef and cheese sandwiches, turkey and cheese sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, peanut butter and fluff sandwiches, strawberries, grapes, bananas, homemade brownies (they loved the brownies), chocolates, warm clothing items and rain ponchos. We were at Mass Ave., Bradston, Atkinson, Southampton, and Topeka Streets. The people were incredibly grateful and kind to us. Some people outside the Southampton shelter told us how they appreciate the conversations they have with our volunteers. Others shared their hopes for a permanent home, and others spoke about their plans to get into detox and treatment. About 100 people stopped by to see us. We’re so blessed to have the opportunity to do this work and are incredibly thankful to the wonderful, compassionate and cheerful volunteers. Without them, this work would not be possible. They truly make the world a better place. We are also grateful to those who donate to support our work. Will be out there again next Sunday.
