The bright sun wasn’t all that brought warmth to Mass Ave on Easter Sunday. On this day that we celebrate new hope, Berk, Akira, Eddy, and Davy of the Boston Recovery Foundation worked alongside volunteers from the Boston Backpack Project to distribute food and clothing items. The food offerings came with a couple of fun surprises in the form of banana cake and chocolate Easter eggs. Eddy held court as the frosting dealer while the other volunteers served over 100 people. We also saw joy on people’s faces when they noticed our fresh fruit, including grapes, strawberries, and bananas. Though the tasty snacks brought smiles to many faces, the real treat of the day was the conversations we had with people on the Ave. Everyone has a unique journey in life, and many people have stories they want to share. We feel blessed when we are trusted enough to hear these stories. Through these conversations, we build connections, sharing love, support, and hope that can empower people to begin the progress on their recovery journey. Thank you to all who made today’s service happen!
